Why I Left Facebook

This article by Caterina Fake is a good summation of why I left Facebook. Instead of trying to fight the problem, or deal with it, I just negated it.

I think my Twitter usage increased like 100-fold during SXSW. I wasn’t using it to find people or things I was missing out on so much as to broadcast to people that I was having a great time. I hadn’t felt that since I left Facebook, but in the crush and buzz of nerdery and party atmosphere, my ego’s need to validate itself returned full-force. I guess if you just give us humans the medium, the opportunity, most of us will take it.
